The California Cantaloupe Season Is Just Around the Corner!
With the California cantaloupe season just around the corner, cantaloupe farmers are busy working their magic in preparation for it! Thanks to California’s ideal weather conditions and the state’s two major growing regions, we are spoiled with an extra long season – allowing us to enjoy those sweet California cantaloupes from Spring through Fall!
Planting began in California’s Desert region early in the year, which means their harvest will be here before you know it, and you can expect to find the first California cantaloupes at your local grocery store very soon! In the Central Valley, planting began in mid-March, and will continue into the Summertime. On average, the fruit can take between 75 and 90 days to mature – those late season cantaloupe plantings will stretch the season clear into Fall, allowing us to enjoy sweet California cantaloupe through November or December!
We’re already having visions of toasting the start of the California cantaloupe season with a satisfying cantaloupe margarita and welcome you to join us in doing the same. For the kids, a refreshing cantaloupe agua fresca is just the ticket for ringing in the sweetest season!
We want to thank those working hard to make it possible for us to enjoy the sweetest cantaloupe three out of the four seasons each year!
Stay updated on the season by signing up for the Sweet Stuff to be the first to know when California cantaloupes hit the shelves. Even better, if you don’t already, follow along on Facebook , Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram for season updates and cantaloupe inspiration!
